11 year old son, getting self concious

My son is missing 2 teeh on the bottom and 1 tooth on top. Because of this his teeth are severly gapped. I have noticed that as the years go on he seems to be getting more self conciuos and stand offish. This is bothersome to me because my son has a big, sweet heart, and is getting ready to start middle school. I'd like for him to go into middle school without having to be so self concious because I know how mean some kids can be. Please, please help him out.
