Crooked and Spaced

Braces Please!

I tongue thrust. When I was 7 and in elementary school, I had to work with a speech therapist because I had a significant lisp. It wasn't until I was a teenager that my dentist informed me that my lisp years prior could be attributed to my tongue thrust. He also informed me that my tongue thrust was contributing to the spaces in my adult teeth. At the time, the orthodontist I went to determined my need for braces was "cosmetic" in nature, therefore insurance would not cover them. My dentist advised me to work on correcting my tongue thrust.
When I was 17, I went to a speech pathologist. We worked to correct my tongue thrust, and made some progress, however our time together was limited, and I have recently come to find out that I still tongue thrust.
I am now 27, and according to my orthodontic visit last March, I still tongue thrust, and due to the strain for all of these years, my need for braces is no longer simply "cosmetic". Unfortunately, now that I am an adult, insurance will again, not cover my orthodontic work. It will cost me $5,000.00 out of pocket to finally fix my tongue thrust as well as my teeth. Please help! :)
