I am Megan Owen and my husband (Jonathan Owen) and I are trying to move to North Carolina. We booked a moving truck with Americian Van Lines on Jan 25. We sent them our depost of $900 on Feb 9th with the expected pick up date of Feb 27th or 28. When those days came and went with out a truck we were patient with the sales agent Tom Gubotosi.
When we still didn't have a truck on March 2nd we continue to be patient. Tom was very friendly and promised compensation for the expenses we incurred (hotel, prorated rent and a discount). He then told us that Paulene Tomich would be able to help us more.
Once again we were told they were sorry for the inconvenience but there wasn't a truck but that they would have one that night or in the morning of March 3. I asked Paulene about compensation and she said not to worry about it that she would make sure our hotel and rent was taken care of. Thursday the 3rd there wasn't a truck and we were told that they wouldn't have on until the 7th or 8th of March. Friday morning both Paulene and Tom wouldn't answer our calls. A lady from customer service named Maria called to say there wasn't a truck and she was sorry but there was nothing more they could do.
We have asked to speak with supervisors but been redirected to random people. We have been told a certain person would call back at a certain time and no phone call was ever received.
We are now being told the truck isn't going to be here until the 10th or maybe not until the 12th but there is no guarantee. We finally spoke with Sheryl who says she is management and were told that if we if we waited for the truck they will give us 25% of our $900 deposit but will do nothing for the extra expenses incurred. If we cancel we will the deposit but nothing else.
Please help us get this story out so that if nothing else happens at least the people watching wont be scammed
We really just want to get to North Carolina with our 1 year old son and start living our lives.
