Unfinished, Unorganized, Ugly Bathroom

Owning our very first home has been a love/hate experience. Our house was built in 1918 and has so much old charm, which we love. However, all the blood, sweat, tears, and money it has taken to make it livable has been a challenge. Unfortunately, we ran out of steam and cash by the time we got to our bathroom. We have to caution our two year old son not to splash a lot in our plastic surrounded tub, in fear that the water will find its way into the cement board or onto the floor where tile is missing. There is also a strange small room connected to the entrance of the bathroom that currently serves no purpose as we have no idea what to do with it. We have debated knocking down the small wall separating the two rooms and creating one larger bathroom or just making it into a powder room. Honestly, we are just lost on what to do with it. Frankly, our bathroom is an embarrassment and really detracts from all the hard work we've put into the rest of the house. This bathroom makeover would be an amazing blessing to our family and would mean the world to our son who just wants a safe place to splash.
