When I saw the contest on the news, I was suprised and grateful for an opportunity, as we have had to put off our bathroom project time and time again. I watched the different people in need submit their stories. I felt compassion and hope for some of the entrys. I almost did'nt enter, but then thought we deserve a shot too, as we have had our share of set-backs over the last few years. When we bought our house in July of 2008, the original plumbing from 1954 needed replaced and was done by the sellers. After it was too late, we realized that the drains were never replaced and we ran into many problems and plumbing costs. The backed up tub caused perminate stain damage. At one point our toilet overflowed and I had to remove the loose carpet that was covering up 2 old, vinyl tile types that are trimmed with duck tape. The toilet base lid had a cover over it and we found it to have a big chunk out of the lid. The sellers also put in a shower head for us, but we didn't know that the tiles would not withstand the water. After we realized this, I have kept the tiles protected with shower curtians to try to stop the tiles from falling. As a result, a mold problem has progressed and the tiles still fall. We only have a window for ventilation, which we keep open a little in the warmer weather. The frame is peeling and cracking due to moisture. We get the expected amount of mold on the walls and ceilings, and I clean it as it appears. We too have had our medical issues that really set us back. Guess it's part of being over 50! I lost my long-time new construction cleaning business when the area busted and have just done various work since then. These days there are a lot of people in need of really big things. Like even just having a home with a bathroom. I always keep those less fortunate in my thoughts and prayers. We would really be grateful to win this contest. We are the second owners of a neat little yellow house that has the Little Bathroom that Could.....really use a makeover! Thank you KREX and Tilemister for this opportunity.
