Ugly Awkward Bathroom

My husband and I share this bathroom with our almost 3 year old son. Our house was built in 1951 and it appears the bathroom was renovated in the 1970's. We have tried to make improvements but there is still only 18 inches between the sink and tub and 14 inchese between the toilet and tub. There are pipes in our son's closet that lead to the sink in the bathroom and it takes at least a full minute to get any hot water. The block tile window radiates cold air, not to mention the broken block window. Without your help, we will probably still be sharing this awkward bathroom with our son when he is a teenager. Please help!
