Fox Rescue on the Grand Mesa

While living and working at Mesa Lakes Lodge a family of Fox had taken residence just out past the parking lot in some rocks. One of the fox had been caught in a trap and the mother and rest of the family had left him. He freed himself from the trap and looked as if he might have chewed his way out. His leg looked awful and was becoming infected. We fed him for a few days until we could get a live trap. He walked right into the trap with the help of some ham. Then he was taken to a rescue place in Silt which amputated his leg and brought him back to health before setting him free out by Highline Lake.
