GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Center for Independence is hosting the third annual Arming Yourself with Information event.
This venue provides training tips for parents with children with disabilities and the program is gaining some popularity.
Organizers say the event last year only had 40 participants with only 16 agencies present.
This year they have 90 participants with 30 agencies in attendance.
However, organizers say many families are still unaware of services that are available.
They also say this type of venue will help them find assistance they are looking for.
"We're here to give them not only information about the agencies but to put a face on it so they can actually talk to someone from that agency,” said Jana Hill with Center for Independence.
They will be discussing topics dealing with legal issues, social security, guardianship and transition services.
Unfortunately, organizers say they are not taking anymore reservations, however, they will still provide anyone with information about their services.
