MESA COUNTY, Colo. - Phase 2 of the Kobe Pipeline project was approved by Mesa County Commissioners Tuesday morning.

The project permit is to construct a buried water pipeline from the Colorado River to a proposed reservoir to be located in Garfield County.

The pipeline will begin at V.2 Road just west of De Beque and continue for 3 miles to transport water for the oil and gas industry.
"There will be less water trucks driving back and forth and beating up the roads. Also it will provide additional irrigation water along both sides of Roan Creek, the town ditch and also the reservoir ditch so that should help the farmers in those areas getting additional water," said Mesa County senior planner, Randy Price.
The project has not been scheduled to begin while planners wait for approval from the BLM and Garfield County.
