Palm Beach Eliminates 2011 Champions Navarro In Extras

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-Palm Beach State (2-1) won their second elimination-game of the 2013 Junior College World Series Monday afternoon, defeating Navarro College (1-2), 15-9 in 10 innings to stay alive in the tournament. Palm Beach jumped out to an early 4-0 lead before finding themselves down 9-6 in the 6th inning. However, the Panthers rallied with a little luck and defensive miscues by Navarro to tie the contest at 9-9 and force extra innings. Jose Lazaro picked up the win with some offensive help, throwing 4.1 scoreless innings to keep Palm Beach alive. They will now face No. 5 Midland (1-1) Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. The victory knocked the 2011 Champions, Navarro out of the tournament.
