GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-No. 2 Navarro (1-1) def. No. 7 Walters State (0-2), 7-5, in 10 innings on the second day of the 2013 JUCO World Series to stay alive in the tournament. Walters tied the game in the 9th inning to force extras before Mason Salazar singled through the left side to bring in Grayson Lewis for the go-ahead run. "Both ends crashed and coach has told us many times if that happens to slash and that's exactly what I did, and it worked," said Salazar. Navarro won the 2011 JUCO World Series on a similar play where a bunt and slash situation turned into a walk-off home run for the Bulldogs. Walters State was eliminated after just two short days. Navarro advances to play No. 6 Palm Beach State (1-1) on Monday at 10 a.m.
