GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-No. 1 Spartanburg Methodist(1-0) def. No.7 Walters St.. (0-1), 19-11, in a slug-fest at Suplizio Field, on Opening Day at the 2013 Junior College World Series. Wesley Rogers led the way for the Pioneers, going 3-5 with a run and RBI and two stolen bases. John Leopard and Champ Roland each homered for Spartanburg Methodist in game that the Pioneers totaled 18 hits. They will now advance in the winner's bracket to play No. 3 Connors St. (1-0) on Monday night, while Walter's State falls to the elimination bracket to face-off against No.2 Navarro (0-1) Sunday at 2 p.m.
