MONTROSE, Colo. -- The Montrose Indians, the number two team in 4A kick off their football season this Friday, August 22 at Montrose High School.
The Indians will face the Grand Junction Tigers - a team that Montrose lost to by a score of 36-33 in 2013.
"It's about [Grand] Junction this week, and next week we'll cross Delta next week but we've got a very tough schedule and the fact that it's Junction in zero week is different but at the same time you gotta go play and do things right," said Todd Casebier, Montrose Football Head Coach.
"It's great to have competition right off the bat, it's a big game right off the start in zero week here. Some teams don't even have a zero week game and face Junction its a big deal. We've been out here trying to benefit ourselves, not too much worrying about that but just getting ready for the game on Friday," said Mike Rocha, Montrose Fullback.
The second-ranked Indians and the Tigers face-off at 7:00pm in Montrose on Friday.
Casebier's squad is looking to make it to a second straight title game appearance. Last year, the Indians lost to Pine Creek in the state championship game 49-14.
