Montrose Advances to State Championship, Delta Falls to Silver Creek

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.--Angelo Youngren scored the decisive two-point conversion in double overtime to give Montrose a 39-38 victory over Pueblo South Saturday in the Class 4A state semifinals.

The top-seeded Indians (11-1) will look to claim their first state title since 1950 when they take on Pine Creek Saturday at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.

In the Class 3A semifinals, Delta fell to defending state champion Silver Creek 28-17 Saturday at Delta High School.

The Panthers end the season at 9-4, while the Raptors will make their third consecutive state finals appearance against Coronado.
