GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (AP)- Melting snow over the past week has revealed a fuel spill along a bike path along Interstate-70 east of Glenwood Springs that apparently happened when a tractor-trailer truck went off the road several weeks ago.

The Colorado Department of Transportation says an oily slick was contained by a barrier and did not appear to have made it to the nearest storm drain that takes runoff into the Colorado River. The oily layer was an inch thick in some spots.

According to the Glenwood Springs Post Independent, it was snowing hard after a truck went over a guardrail and the spill went unnoticed.

The accident occurred Jan. 10 and was one of a number of accidents that day.
