GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.--Colorado Mesa edged out Western New Mexico 22-17 Saturday at Stocker Stadium, and for the first time since 2009, the Mavericks have won three consecutive games.

"We were struggling a little bit offensively that first half," second-year head coach Russ Martin said. "But guys didn't panic. They didn't get in a rush. Defense kept playing just lights out, keeping us in the ball game, and once we started going, you could just feel the momentum build on the sideline."

The Mavs improve to 4-2 on the year and 3-1 in the RMAC to equal their win total from 2012.

Jake Cimolino rushed for 135 yards to move into third place on Mesa's all-time list.
