MESA COUNTY, Colo.- Sean Kornley, 44, of Palisade is facing charges related to DUI, open container, and disregarding a police officer during traffic control.
Authorities say Kornley was heading east on Front Street, near 33 3/4 Road on Saturday night when he almost struck a deputy assisting with a car crash.
Reports say Kornley stopped his vehicle a short distance away from the near miss, allowing the deputy to make contact with him. Kornley conducted a breath test, with a reported blood alcohol concentration level of .261, well above the legal limit for driving.
The deputy also discovered an open bottle of vodka and an unopened 6-pack of beer inside his vehicle.
Authorities say this isn't the first time Kornley has dealt with DUIs. He was arrested in 1992, 2003, and 2004 for driving under the influence.
His next court appearance is September 10.
