MESA COUNTY, Colo. - The July 2014 unemployment rate was released on Monday for Mesa County, the state of Colorado, and the nation.
From June to July of 2014, the state of Colorado added 5,500 jobs. This helped to lower the unemployment rate for the state from 5.4% in June, to 5.3% in July. This is also the 33rd time in a row that there have been job gains each month.
The unemployment rate for Mesa County dropped from 6.5% in June, to 6.3% in July. Although this lags behind the state average, it is very close to the national rate of 6.2%. Officials say that the lower rate is common for the summer months, as there are more seasonal jobs like summer positions.
