GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Jared Wright announced on Saturday that he is not going to seek reelection for the November 2014 General Election.

This announcement was made outside of the Mesa County Courthouse at a joint press conference with House District 54 Candidate Yuelin Willett.

Wright says he offers his full support and endorsement for Willet as his replacement.

Wright added this wasn't an easy decision to make. He states that the toll of his time in office away from his family is the primary motive for his decision.

"It’s not easy being a representative from the Western Slope, especially with a growing family. Last session I had my family in Denver with me, this season we haven't been able to do that and it’s difficult,” Said Jared Wright. “We have a two-and-a-half year old daughter, and I think I have to keep my priorities straight. I think a career back home would be easier to raise my daughter and focus on my family more.”

Republicans will be selecting delegates for the House District 54 Assembly on March 4.

The primary election is scheduled for June 24 and the general election will take place on Nov. 4
