GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-For the second consecutive year, Grand Junction falls to Columbine in the CHSAA Class 5A State Football Playoffs. Friday night at Jeffco Stadium, the Rebels defeated the Tigers, 41-6, to advance into the 2013 Class 5A Quarterfinals.

Columbine will now play top-seeded Valor Christian in the round of 8.

The Rebels scored on their opening possession courtesy of a 20-yard touchdown run by Austin Norton.

Grand Junction quarterback, Tyler Heinsma was picked off on the Tiger's ensuing possession, after his pass went through the hands of Theron Verna.

Columbine parlayed the turnover into seven more points and before the Tigers could blink, they were down 35-0 at the half.

Montrose remains the only team from the Southwestern League still alive in the 2013 postseason.
