GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. - Authorities have confirmed a woman who was allegedly shot in the head by her boyfriend early Tuesday morning has died.
The Garfield County district attorney said Audrey Lowndes was declared brain dead at St. Mary's hospital and died shortly after.
The victim's boyfriend, 28-year-old James Mallin, is the primary suspect in the crime. He's currently being held in Garfield County Jail. The district attorney said her office has not decided what charges to formally file against Mallin.
Officials said Glenwood Springs Police responded to a call of a gunshot at a mobile home park on South Grand Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Police report finding Lowndes attended by her boyfriend and boyfriend's father.
