GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Saturday marked the official start of the Alpine Bank Junior College World Series.
Players, Coaches and fans entered the gates to sweep up the thrill of Americas favorite past time.
“I just love coming to watch. I’m at the age now where a lot of my friends are playing so it’s interesting to see some of them come back and actually play,” Said Dylan Bennett, JUCO fan.
More than 100 thousand fans are expected to make their way into the Grand Valley for this event.
“I’m really excited. I’m hoping to catch a foul ball. (And what would you do with a foul ball?) keep it,” said Ashgen Davis, JUCO fan.
Of course, what’s a baseball game without hot dogs and hamburgers?
“We got Georgia chopped pork, Texas Beef Biscuit, St. Louis style spare ribs and its summer time! Its Memorial Day weekend, we’re ready to kick-off with some smoked BBQ and some Baseball,” said Dallas Massey, Famous Daves.
If you have a sweet tooth, there’s a stand for that as well.
“I think sweets go well with everything. Our little mini donuts, we make them fresh here. We also have really nice Root Bear floats and we also do frozen and regular lemonades,” Said Brad Matthews, Owner of Ajax Donuts.
There’s also a new addition just for kids to enjoy.
“For years JUCO has been a great family activity. However, a lot of the kids need a break from baseball. This year they decided to do a kids area where they can come over and get a break from Baseball. The parents can get a break from their kids and the kids can come over and have fun in a different way,” Said Tim Roseberry, Owner of Fly High Western Colorado.
With great food, attractions for the kids and of course, Baseball, the Memorial Day weekend is sure to be a fun one.
