Colorado Mesa Adcvances to RMAC Semi-Finals

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The fourth ranked Colorado Mesa University basketball team survived a physical battle with the UC-Colorado Springs Mountain Lions on Tuesday evening in Brownson Arena. The Mavericks prevailed 70-57 over UCCS in a RMAC Shootout Quarterfinal contest.
A quartet of Mavericks finished in double-figures led by RMAC Player of the Year Sharaya Selsor's 18 points. Selsor played all 40 minutes of the contest and added five assists and two rebounds.
Hannah Pollart finished the night with 12 points and eight rebounds. She was 3-of-5 from the field and 6-of-7 from the free-throw line and came away with three big steals.
Christen Lopez finished with 14 points and five assists and Aubry Boehme scored 15 points and pulled down five rebounds.
The Mavericks led 35-27 at the break but turned the ball over 10 times in the second half that led to 10 Mountain Lion points. In that stretch, UCCS had cut the lead to just three points.
A pivotal play down the stretch occurred with 2:45 remaining in the game. Sharaya Selsor buried a three from the top of the key while Hannah Pollart was being fouled down low. The basket counted and Pollart sank two free-throws for a five point play and a 14 point Maverick lead.
Abby Kirchoff led the Mountain Lions with 12 points and seven rebounds.
