GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Colorado Mesa University (CMU) is requesting to vacate portions of Cannell and Elm Avenues.
Obtaining rights of way will allow for continued westward expansion that CMU officials say is needed with the continued student population growth.
Wednesday night Grand Junction City Council will host a public hearing for the community to voice their concerns and comments in regards to expansion on the two streets.
"If we're lucky, knock on wood, we'll get the approval by the City Council and this summer you'll see us actually start to pull that up and make those changes to campus which will really, really step in that progress of campus," said CMU presdident Tim Foster.
Depending on the City Council's decision additional residential halls as well as a rugby field will be added.
