GRAMD JUNCTION, Colo. -- The Colorado Mesa University football team scrimmaged for the second time this offseason on Saturday.

Bad weather made for tough conditions for the offense so the CMU defense took advantage and caused multiple turnovers on the day.

"I'll tell you what, I was very pleased defensively looking at it initially.  Our guys created some turnovers when the ball was on the ground.  They were flying around to get the thing.  We had a couple picks and so, defensively I thought our guys played very well," said Russ Martin, CMU head football coach.

The Mavericks will scrimmage one more time before their first game against Dixie State on Saturday, September 6 at 7:00 pm at Stocker Stadium.
