GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- The Ice Bucket Challenge is making its way through Western Slope athletics, and on Friday it was the Colorado Mesa University coaches that got soaked just outside the Maverick Center on campus.

The participants included assistant football coach Ben Martin, volleyball head coach Dave Fleming, men's golf head coach Matt Ward, women's lacrosse head coach Abby Simpson, and softball assistant coach Mercedes Lavoto.

The event was organized by CMU's Sports Information Director, Ian Marks.

"ALS, also known as Lou Gerhig's disease, obviously an athlete. We're athletic, so there's the connection there, and it's always about giving back," said Marks.

The Mavs continued the challenge on to three other Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Schools.

"Fort Lewis, Western State, and Regis, you're up," said Marks.
