GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce spent the day supporting The Baker’s Boutique, participating in a nationwide “Cash Mob.”
A “Cash Mob” targets a small business and makes a few purchases. The chamber will pick a different business to support as a group each month.
The event was throughout the day to allow chamber members to come and go on their own time.
"We chose the Baker's Boutique today for our Cash Mob,” said Chamber Diplomat Lauri Longstrom-Henderson. “So all of us diplomats are going to come here, visit the shop and spend some money and support a chamber member."
Baker’s Boutique owner Callie Ash said she was so grateful for being selected as the first business to kick off the “Cash Mob” movement in Grand Junction.
"We bought extra ingredients, got up extra early; we baked and frosted,” said Ash. “I was saying earlier I have a cramp on my hand from frosting so quickly, trying to go as quickly as we can. We did some new flavors today."
Those flavors included Key Lime Pie, Vanilla Bean, and Chocolate Berries.
“Cash Mobs” aren’t just for the Chamber of Commerce. The public is encouraged to participate (don’t worry, singing and dancing is not involved.) If you would like to participate in future Cash Mob events, you can call the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce at (970) 242-3214.
