ASPEN, Colo. - After nearly two years of planning, a lodge incentive program in Aspen was passed by the Aspen City Council Monday night on a 3-2 vote.
A popular complaint in Aspen over the years has been that there weren't enough places for visitors to stay; new program hopes to change that.
In 30 days an ordinance will go into effect that encourages condos and hotels to renovate and upgrade their facilities by providing free evaluations and certain fees waived.
There was some controversy surrounding the ordinance because it'll allow lodges to add a 4th floor; before Monday's decision, lodges could only have three floors.
