The Lady Mavericks Hold Home Court at Brownson This Weekend

Grand Junction- Colorado Mesa women's basketball (11-12, 9-10 RMAC) defeated visiting Western New Mexico 86-48 on Saturday night at Brownson Arena. The loss dropped the Mustangs to 0-22, 0-19 in RMAC play.

CMU opened the game on a 3-pointer by Kelsey Sigl and never trailed scoring 43 points in each half on the way to their third consecutive victory. Sigl led all players with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

CMU had a season high 13 players scored in the contest and shot 55 percent (36-65) from the field. Katrina Selsor finished with 11 points, five rebounds and five assists. Chrissy Armstrong had her best night as a Maverick recording 10 points and four rebounds off the bench. Armstrong was 5 of 6 from the floor. Amy Weitzeil finished with eight points and eight rebounds.

CMU led 43-26 at half and outscored the Mustangs 43-22 in the second half. The Mavericks out-rebounded WNMU 52-24 and held the Mustangs to 28 percent (16-57) shooting from the field.

WNMU was led by Kassie Scott's 15 points, four rebounds and three assists.

CMU will return to Brownson Arena for its final home regular season game next Saturday against Western State College. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. Saturday night will be Senior Night.
