Mesa Basketball Rolls in Home Debut

GRAND JUNCTION, colo.-Both the Men's and Women's Basketball teams from Colorado Mesa University impressed in their home debuts Friday night at Brownson Arena taking care of NAIA school's Northern New Mexico and Hillsdale College.

The men were led by preseason All-Conference selection Colton Burgon, who finished with a game high 15 points in the 81-54 route of Northern New Mexico.

So. Guard, Clayton Kame finished with 12 points off the bench for Jim Heaps's team.

On the women's side it was preseason Conference Player of the Year Kelsey Sigl with 18 points in just 15 minutes. CMU defeated Hillsdale College 87-24 setting a school record for the fewest points allowed and the largest margin of victory.

CMU will play Dixie State(3-1) Saturday at 7 p.m. on the men's side, while the women will host Mid-America Christian (OK) (6-1) at 5 p.m.

This is Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College, in OK, not Hillsdale College, in MI. These small-time news stations keep lazily equating the two and the mix-up is becoming unprofessional. Get it right.
