Mavs Split Sunday RMAC Pod

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.--Colorado Mesa (21-12-1, 19-8-1 RMAC) split Sunday's RMAC Pod beating CSU-Pueblo 6-5 in 11 innings before falling to Colorado Christian 6-3. The Mavericks went 3-1 in the weekend Pod, sweeping CSU-Pueblo in two games and splitting with Colorado Christian.
In game one CMU extended its walk-off streak to three beating CSUP 6-5 in 11 innings on a walk-off sacrifice hit by Tawnee Woosley scoring Taylor Gross (single) to end the game. Gross hit a one-out single to left center and Caitlin Pattee's double advanced Gross to third. Woosley's sac hit was her first this season.
CSUP scored four runs on three hits in the first inning. The Mavericks scored three unearned runs on one hit in the bottom half of the inning. CMU tied the game at 4-4 in the sixth inning on an unearned run on two hits and one CSUP fielding error.
CSUP took a 5-4 lead in the 10th on a two-out RBI single. CMU answered back when Pattee reached on an error to start the inning. A single by Woosley and sac bunt by Lisa Pille advanced Pattee to third. Makayla Kovac's sac fly to centerfield sent the game into the 11th inning where the Mavericks sealed the victory.
Pattee went 3 for 5 after entering the game in the bottom of the first inning.
Jessica Severinsen pitched the complete game improving to 16-4 overall. She allowed five runs on 10 hits, four walks and struck out five.
In the RMAC Pod finale Colorado Christian notched their first victory of the weekend beating CMU 6-3. The game remained scoreless until the fourth inning when the Cougars scored a run on two hits to take a 1-0 lead. CMU tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom half when Rachel Boothe scored on a passed ball.
CCU put up three runs in the fifth for a 4-1 advantage. CMU cut the deficit to one run (4-3) in the bottom of the fifth off a two-run homerun by Kovac. The Cougars sealed the win in the seventh scoring two runs on two hits for a 6-3 victory.
CMU will hit the road next weekend for a four-game set at Adams State University.
