Mavs 20-0 spurt leads to victory over Dixie 80-61

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.--Jeff Hart scored 20 points including 13 second –half points, to help spark the Mavericks second half turn-around and an 80-61 victory over Dixie State College. Hart was 7 of 10 from the field, four rebounds and two assists.

Colton Burgon finished with a game high 22 points and 10 rebounds for his second double-double on the year. Burgon was a perfect 8 for 8 from the foul line, scoring 20 points in the second half. Hart and Burgon combined for 33 of the Mavericks 56-second half points, erasing a 30-24 halftime deficit.

The Red Storm opened the second half with a lay-up and made free throw for its biggest lead by either team at the time 33-24. The Red Storm continued to distance itself with an 11-3 run and a 41-27 advantage at the 17:24 mark.

CMU began its run of 23 consecutive points while holding the Red Storm scoreless for over seven minutes to take a 50-41 lead with 10:18 left in the game. CMU would extend the lead to 21 points for its largest lead, outscoring Dixie State 56-31 in the second half.

CMU shot 65 percent (15-23) in the second half and made 24 of 30 second half free throws.

The Mavericks will open RMAC action on the road at Chadron State and Black Hills State beginning November 30.
