Mavericks Fall 4-1 to Fort Lewis

DURANGO, Colo.--The Colorado Mesa University Women's Soccer team traveled to Durango Sunday afternoon for a match with RMAC rival Fort Lewis. The Skyhawks scored three first half goals and cruised to a 4-1 victory.

The Mavericks record falls to 8-3-3 on the season and 5-3-2 in the RMAC while the Skyhawks improve to 10-2-2 and 6-2-2 in the RMAC.

Fort Lewis scored in the 7th, 11th, and 32nd minutes of the first half to take a commanding 3-0 lead into halftime.

The Mavericks answered back in the early portion of the second half on an Ashley Wallace goal. Wallace broke away from the defense and scored her second goal of the season in the 55th minute. Wallace's goal was assisted by Darion Weigert and cut the lead to 3-1.

The Skyhawks answered back less than two minutes later to push it back to a three goal lead at 4-1.

The Mavericks will enter their final home matches next weekend with a match on Friday against Metro State. Then on Sunday, they will take on the Regis Rangers in their final home match of the regular season.
