Deke Cisco Named the Starter For Colorado Mesa, Dom Lewis Out For Opener

GRAND JUNCTION, colo.-Colorado Mesa Head Football Coach, Russ Martin, announced Thursday afternoon that redshirt-freshman quarterback, Deke Cisco will start in the Mavericks' 2012 opener on Thursday at No. 21 Humboldt St.

NewsChannel5 Sports Director, Josh Moser broke this story via twitter, also finding out that Pre-Season All-Conference Selection Dom Lewis will not play in the opener. The former Utah Ute has been sidelined for most of fall camp with a hamstring issue.

Colorado Mesa is also still waiting on transcripts to clear for junior transfer receiver Turmour Battle.

Another transfer, Austen Fales will also see time at quarterback for Russ Martin, but expect sophomore runningback, Jake Chimolino to carry the load for the CMU offense.
