Colton Burgon Named the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week

GRAND JUNCTION, colo.- Colorado Mesa Sr. Forward, Colton Burgon was named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

This is the second RMAC weekly honor the senior from Utah has earned this season.

Burgon was named RMAC Defensive Player of the Week on November 26. It marks the third RMAC Player of the Week honor the Mavericks have earned. Mike Melillo was named RMAC Offensive Player of the Week on November 12.

Colton Burgon led the Mavericks to two victories on the road at Chadron State (77-62) and Black Hills State (86-72), scoring a game high 26 points at Chadron State and recording a game high 19 points and nine rebounds at Black Hills State.

Against Chadron State he finished with a game high 26 points, six rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal. Burgon was 11-of-16 from the floor and 4-of-5 from the foul line.

At Black Hills State, Burgon was 8-of-12 from the floor as part of his 19 points, had three steals and two assists. He averaged 22.5 points per game and shot .679 percent from the floor and 70 percent from the foul line.

Burgon's 26 points at Chadron State is a season high and one point shy of his career high. He leads the team averaging 17.8 points per game and a team high 7.3 rebounds per game. He has a team high 10 blocks and has 12 assists and six steals on the year. Burgon is also shooting .592 from the field.

CMU is 5-1 overall and 2-0 in RMAC action and riding a four-game win streak. The Mavericks will host Western New Mexico on Friday and New Mexico Highlands on Saturday night in Brownson Arena. Tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
