Central's Sanchez Signs with Colorado Mesa

by Claire Brandon

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Central High School football star Taylor Sanchez signed a national letter of intent Thursday to play football at Colorado Mesa University next season.

Sanchez was recruited as a defensive back, but wants to play on the offensive side of the ball as a slot back.

Last season for the Warriors, he completed 54 of 132 passes for over 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns. He also ran the ball 186 times for 11 touchdowns.

Sanchez earned All-Southwestern League honors as a defensive back.

The future Maverick says he is excited to play in front of a home crowd, but chose CMU because of the coaching staff.
