Palisade Earns No. 9 Seed in Playoffs

by Claire Brandon

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.--#9 Palisade (17-2) will play #24 Lewis-Palmer (7-12) in the opening round of the Class 4A district baseball playoffs Saturday, May 12 at Evergreen High School.

"We can't underestimate anybody," said senior catcher Caleb Hall. "We've got to come in every game like it's the state championship game. We lose one game here and we're done."

The Bulldogs finished the regular season undefeated in conference play and were hoping to host a playoff; however, they were edged out by #8 Evergreen (14-5).

Palisade head coach Steve Moore said the decision was made because of league strength and the team's 24-8 loss to Palmer Ridge earlier this season.

"They've got a little bit of a chip on their shoulder," head coach Steve Moore said. "But the reality is you've got to earn respect. These kids have worked their butts off all year long and they're ready to play baseball."

First pitch set for 12:30 p.m.
