No. 6 Grand Valley Eyes First Playoff Berth Since 2008

by Claire Brandon

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.--Grand Valley, the No. 6 team in Class 2A, will host Basalt (4-2) in a league match up Friday night.

The Cardinals' only loss of the season came to No. 3 Bayfield, 23-18, which head coach Mike Johnson said was one of his proudest moments this season.

Grand Valley looks to have a legitimate shot at making the playoffs for the first time since 2008, but the team knows how important these final three weeks are.

"The state has a lot of depth," Johnson said. "There are a lot of good teams out there, but I think we're one of them."

Kickoff set for 7 p.m.
