Kyle Rush Resigns As The Head Baseball Coach at Grand Junction High School

Kyle Rush, the Head Baseball Coach at Grand Junction High School, announced Tuesday that he will resign from his position after twelve seasons.

During his tenure, the Tigers won eight Southwestern League titles, and Rush was voted by his peers as the "SWL Coach of the Year" six different times. His teams made twelve straight playoff appearances, and earned three "Final-8" berths in the State playoffs. Rush leaves Grand Junction with a 182-73 record (.713 winning percentage).

In 2005, Rush led the Tigers to the Class 5A State Championship and was named the 2005 Colorado High School Coaches Association Coach of the Year. Also in 2005, Coach Rush was selected as Head Coach of he All-Colorado All-Star game. In total, Rush eight All-State players including the2005 Colorado Player of the Year, Dane Hamilton.

Prior to coaching, Rush was a standout at Fruita Monument High School before going on to play collegiately at Colorado Mesa University.

In addition to coaching, Rush has been instrumental in building Grand Junction High School’s Fanning Field into one of the gems of high school baseball diamonds in western Colorado. Over the past twelve years he has raised close to $70,000 to make improvements to the Tiger’s home field.

Rush says that he hopes to become more involved on the Junior College World Series Committee, and plans to spend more time with his family.
