HS Baseball Preview: Fruita vs. Grand Junction

by Claire Brandon

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.--The Wildcats and the Tigers, both 5-3 in the SWL, will face off at Suplizio Field Tuesday at 6 p.m.

"The kids get to go back to the park, and we haven't been there for a year," Grand Junction head coach Kyle Rush said. "It'll be exciting, especially for our seniors. It's always fun to play Fruita, but right now we've got to win every game."

Both teams are just one game behind Durango (6-3) and still vying for a 5A playoff berth.

"Nobody's really qualified yet for the playoffs," Fruita head coach Ray McLennan said. "So you're still trying to earn your spot into there, which is not surprising the way things have been so close. I think each game we play here on out, until we secure a playoff spot, is critical."

There are two games left on the teams' schedules before the district tournament on Saturday, May 12.
