Dusty Sanchez's Pin Lifts Central Past Grand Junction

by Claire Brandon

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.--Dusty Sanchez pinned Louis Guillen in the final match, as Central defeated Grand Junction 36-35 Thursday night at Central High School.

"Proud of myself," Sanchez said. "Did it for my family. They wanted me to beat him. It's not about that, it's about winning the dual and beating Junction. In my senior year, it means a lot to me."

The Warriors were trailing by five heading into the last match at 138 pounds. Guillen got an early take down at the start of the period, but Sanchez answered, pinning Guillen with 19 seconds left in the period.

Top-ranked 145-pound sophomore Jacob Trujillo moved up to wrestle at 152 pounds against Kolton Maybury. Trujillo won by technical fall 18-1 to stay undefeated on the year.
