No. 2 Palisade Preps for Homecoming

by Claire Brandon

GRAND JUNCTION, colo.-Palisade is getting ready for its only real home game of the season, which means it'll be a different atmosphere when the Bulldogs take the field Saturday against Montezuma-Cortez.

"It's more of a home environment," junior defensive back Austin Terry said. "We're in the town of Palisade, we're not out in Grand Junction. It's more supportive and it's just a lot rowdier."

All of the Bulldogs' home games are played at Stocker Stadium, but their Homecoming will be played at Palisade High School.

"It's more of a community feel," head coach John Arledge said. "Stocker always feels like you're kind of playing at a different place. It's home, but it's not home. This is home."

The Bulldogs, ranked 2nd in Class 3A, are coming off a big win over Glenwood Springs. But, with the big picture in mind, the guys aren't letting the rankings get to their heads.

"It doesn't matter what you're ranked," Arledge said. "At the end of the day you've got to go compete against other people. If you're ranked No. 1 at the end of the year, it means something. Right now it means nothing."

Palisade will look to stay undefeated as they take on Montezuma-Cortez (1-1) in a league matchup. Kickoff set for noon on Saturday, Sept. 15.
