Rocks Fall In Extras, Jeff Popick Hitless In Return To Suplizio
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-The Grand Junction Rockies (24-22, 3-5) came up just short Wednesday night at Suplizio Field, rallying from a 6-0 deficit to fall, 11-10, to the Orem Owlz (LAA) (25-21, 5-3).
Former Colorado Mesa All-American and 2012 Pioneer League All-Star Honorable Mention, Jeff Popick was 0-3 in his 2013 debut after missing the first half of the season with injury.
The Rockies trailed 6-0 through four innings but rallied late to take a 10-8 led at the end of the 7th.
The game would eventually go to extras and it was the Rockies giving this one away on an errant throw by Jairo Rosario that allowed Cal Towey to advance to third base. Then Dom Nunez would bobble a ball at second base that allowed Towey to score the eventual winning run.
Grand Junction goes 1-3 against Orem in the four-game set and will continue their eight-game home stand Thursday night hosting the Idaho Falls Chukars (KC) in the first of four more at Suplizio Field
