Rockies Move Into a Tie For First in the Pioneer League South With Win Over Billings

GRAND JUNCTION, colo.-The Grand Junction Rockies (18-16) defeated the Billings Mustangs (18-16), 12-4, Monday night at Suplizio Field, moving them into a tie with Ogden for first place in the Pioneer League South with four games remaining in the first half of the season.

The winner of the first half of the season is guaranteed a playoff spot regardless of their second half record.

Eddie Butler pitched his second consecutive shutout outing against Billings resulting in his second win in his last two starts.

The Rockies first-round supplemental pick (#46 overall) pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing no runs on only two hits with seven strikeouts.

SS/3B Matt Wessinger hit his fourth home run of the season in the 5th inning, giving the Rockies a 5-0 lead.

The Rockies will play two more games against Billings at Suplizio Field beginning Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. before traveling to Idaho Falls to take on the Chuckars to close out the first half of the season.
