Rockies Get Big Win On July 4th

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-The Grand Junction Rockies (8-9) def. the Orem Owlz (6-11), 7-2, Wednesday night at Suplizio Field, earning back-to-back wins over the Los Angeles Angels affiliate.

Starting pitcher, Alving Mejias (1-2, 4.66 E.R.A.) earned his first win of 2012 after tossing six scoreless innings--allowing only three hits to go along with four strikeouts and a walk.

First-baseman Ben Waldrip launched his third home run in two games to give the Rockies an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third.

Catcher Wilfredo Rodriguez, second baseman Juan Ciriaco and left fielder David Dahl each went 3-4 on the night-- Rockies had 13 hits as a team.

Grand Junction will host Idaho Falls, the affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, beginning Thursday night at 7.05 p.m.
