Local Pitcher Gets Second Look, Impresses at Rockies' Tryout

by Claire Brandon

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.--Brady Adamek, who was born and raised in Grand Junction, caught the eyes of the Grand Junction Rockies' coaching staff last week.

The right handed pitcher gave it a shot at last week's open tryout and topped out at 95 mph.

"Everytime you see a guy that throws that hard, it definitely gets your attention," Grand Junction Rockies manager Tony Diaz said. "So, I think we're going to follow up on that kid and maybe bring him back and see what he's got."

Adamek started his collegiate career at Neosho County Community College and finished at Oakland University.

"I just wanted them to see that I've got a pro arm," he said. "I wanted to make sure that I didn't leave that tryout with any regrets. I wanted to make sure that I gave it everything I had, and they saw every little bit of me."

The Colorado native said he couldn't imagine anything that would be better than playing for the Rockies.
