Dahl Receives Another All-Star Nod While Butler Will Undergo Surgery

by Josh Moser

GRAND JUNCTION, colo.-David Dahl added another All-Star selection to his resume Wednesday afternoon, named to the Topps Short Season A / Rookie All-Star, after previously being named as the Pioneer League Player of the Year, while fellow teammate, first-round draft pick and Pioneer League All-Star Eddie Butler will undergo surgery Thursday morning on his throwing arm.

Butler was 7-1 with a Pioneer League best 2.13 E.R.A. The 46th overall selection in 2012 was hit by a line drive while in the Arizona instructional league requiring surgery to repair a broken bone in his right wrist.

"I hope to back for Spring ball," said Butler via a phone conversation with NewsChannel5 Sports Director Josh Moser. "I trust the doctors and hopefully I will be back to my old self."

Dahl, who is back home in Birmingham, Alabama put up phenomenal numbers this summer and the recognition is no surprise.

The 10th overall selection in 2012 led short season players with a .379 batting average and 106 hits and tied for the lead with 41 extra-base hits. The Grand Junction Rockies outfielder was second with 62 runs and third in slugging percentage (.625) and OPS (1.048).

Both players are expected to be at Low-A affiliate Ashville next summer following Spring Training.
