Tigers, Warriors Head to Arizona for 98-Team Tournament
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.--It may be spring break for the high schools, but Central and Grand Junction are in action this week at the Coach Bob National Invitational.
The Phoenix-based tournament features 98 teams from around the country, including 29 from the state of Colorado.
"What we're looking forward to down here in Arizona is going up against some competition that's out of our area," Grand Junction head coach Donnie Alexander said. "Just kind of seeing how we match up player for player and team for team.
"It'll be a good gage as to what we need to work on more to be able to compete on a higher level."
The Tigers are undefeated on the season, sitting at 5-1 overall and 1-0 in league play. They're also receiving votes in the Denver Post's latest Class 5A rankings.
On Tuesday, Grand Junction will face Thurston High School out of Oregon, who has yet to get in the win column.
But Thursday will be a huge test to see how the Tigers match up against O'Conner High School out of Arizona. The Eagles are 16-0 on the season.
