by Claire Brandon

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.--The Lady Wildcats improved to 2-0 in Southwestern League play after cruising to a 52-18 victory over the Lady Demons Saturday at Fruita Monument High School.

Samantha Parks and Lauren LaBonde each finished with a game-high 13 points, leading Fruita to an 11-4 record.

On the boys side, Durango edged out the Wildcats, 37-36, in Saturday afternoon's thriller at Fruita Monument High School.

The Wildcats opened up on a 9-0 run, but the Demons came back to tie it up at the half.

After a back-and-forth battle, the game was tied at 36 with mere seconds remaining; however, William Frownfelter drew a foul in the final 10 seconds.

After missing the first free throw attempt, the senior made the second to put Durango up by one and seal the deal.

Fruita falls to 7-8 on the season, 1-1 in the Southwestern League.
