Rockies Start Off Seven-Game Homestand With A Win Over Missoula

GRAND JUNCTION, colo.-The Grand Junction Rockies (15-15) defeated the Missoula Osprey (15-15), 3-1, Thursday night at Suplizio Field, improving to 3-1 on the year against the Arizona Diamondbacks Minor League affiliate.

Starting pitcher Matt Carasiti, (2-1, 3.52 ERA) threw seven shutout innings en route to the longest start made by a Rockies pitcher this season.

The sixth round pick out of St. Johns also had three strikeouts.

First-baseman Ben Waldrip hit his fifth home run of the year in the second inning.

Colorado Rockies first-baseman Todd Helton will make a rehab start Friday and Saturday for the Grand Junction Rockies. He was placed on the 15-day DL on July 9th after injuring his right hip. Helton will be the first Major League player to play in Grand Junction for the Rookie ball club.
